Graphite Rod Manufacturer for Industrial Applications
CARBOLVE supplies and machines industrial graphite rods according to verified material grades, custom diameters, and required lengths. Identical dimensions do not guarantee identical engineering performance. We evaluate your operating temperature, atmosphere, and machining requirements to provide drawing-based custom components, cut-to-length stock, and OEM replacement parts.

What Graphite Rod Do You Need?
Step 1: Choose your preferred sourcing method
Industrial Graphite Rods — Not Fishing Rods or Gouging Electrodes
To ensure accurate sourcing, CARBOLVE strictly supplies solid industrial graphite stock and machined components. We do not supply unrelated consumer or specialized consumable products.
Industrial Graphite Rod

SEPARATE CATEGORYGraphite Tube
Hollow cylindrical graphite material defined by Outer Diameter (OD) and Inner Diameter (ID).
SEPARATE GEOMETRYHow Does CARBOLVE Supply Graphite Rods?
Graphite material production and finished graphite rod machining are different manufacturing capabilities. CARBOLVE supplies verifiable graphite rod stock and provides finished machining services.
Qualified Material Sourcing
We select verified extruded, molded, or isostatic graphite rod stock or block material based on your required grade and properties.
Cut-to-Length & Machining
Rods are cut to specified lengths. If a finished component is required, we perform turning, drilling, and threading according to your drawing.
Dimensional Inspection
Final diameter, length, straightness, and machined features are inspected against agreed tolerances before packaging.
What Is an Industrial Graphite Rod?
An industrial graphite rod is a solid cylindrical graphite material supplied in a specified diameter, length, and graphite grade. It may be used directly as an electrode or high-temperature component, supplied as machining stock, or further machined into a custom industrial part.
The material grade is as important as the physical dimensions because graphite rods can differ significantly in grain structure, density, purity, porosity, electrical resistivity, thermal properties, and mechanical strength.
MATERIAL GRADE + DIAMETER + LENGTH + APPLICATION = GRAPHITE ROD SPECIFICATION
Graphite Rods by Material & Supply Requirement
These categories describe different attributes and should not be treated as mutually exclusive alternatives.
Extruded Graphite Rods
Formed via extrusion. Properties may exhibit directionality based on the extrusion axis. Suitable for general industrial components and specific electrode applications where verified.
Request Extruded Data →Isostatic Graphite Rods
Formed using isostatic pressing. Often selected for fine machining details and reduced directional property variation, though exact properties depend on the specific grade.
Request Isostatic Data →Fine-Grain Graphite Rods
Useful where the final component requires fine machined details, small features, or controlled edge quality. Selection must also consider strength and required dimensions.
Discuss Fine-Grain Material →High-Purity Graphite Rods
Supplied with verified analytical data for carbon and ash content. Required for sensitive high-temperature processes, research, or specific electrochemical environments.
Submit Purity Requirements →Cut-to-Length Rods
Standard rod stock rough-cut or saw-cut to specified lengths. Provide diameter, finished length, quantity, cutting tolerance, and any required machining allowance.
Submit Diameter & Length →Custom Machined Rods
Finished components produced from drawings, including finished diameters, faced ends, bores, radial holes, grooves, flats, and threads where material strength permits.
Upload Your Drawing →Graphite Rod Technical Specifications
A complete engineering specification requires evaluating multiple parameters beyond just diameter and length.
| Parameter | Why It Matters | CARBOLVE Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Material Grade | Defines the exact material identity and expected properties. | Provide existing grade or application details. |
| Forming Method | Influences material structure and directional properties (e.g., extruded vs isostatic). | Specify if a specific forming route is mandatory. |
| Grain Size | Affects machining detail, surface quality, and edge integrity. | Evaluated based on component geometry. |
| Purity / Ash (%) | Determines suitability for contamination-sensitive processes. | Submit specific analytical requirements if needed. |
| Electrical Resistivity | Critical for electrode and heating element applications. | Provide required voltage, current, and temperature. |
| Diameter (D) & Length (L) | Primary physical dimensions of the stock or component. | Specify in mm or inches with required tolerances. |
| Straightness | Important for long rods, rotating parts, or furnace alignment. | Define straightness tolerance before production. |
Custom Machined Graphite Rods From Drawings
Machining feasibility depends on graphite grade, diameter, wall thickness, feature size, length, tolerance, and handling requirements. Graphite is brittle compared to ductile metals; design must account for stress concentrations.
Drilled & Bored Graphite Rods
We can machine center bores, through holes, blind holes, and radial holes into solid rod stock. When specifying holes, consider the hole diameter, depth, concentricity, and remaining wall thickness relative to the graphite grade.
If a hollow product is required as regular stock material without complex internal machining, consider our Graphite Tubes category.
Submit Hole / Bore DrawingThreads & Custom Ends
Threads can be machined into suitable graphite rod components when the rod diameter, wall thickness, graphite grade, thread size, and applied load allow. We do not promise metal-equivalent thread strength due to graphite's inherent brittleness.
We also supply rods with saw-cut, faced, chamfered, rounded, or stepped end conditions based on your assembly requirements.
Specify Rod End GeometryApplication & Operating Conditions
A graphite rod operating-temperature specification is incomplete without defining the operating atmosphere. We select materials based on actual process conditions.
Temperature & Oxidation
Graphite behavior in air is vastly different from vacuum or inert gas. Graphite can oxidize in oxygen-containing environments at elevated temperatures. Always provide both temperature and atmosphere.
Discuss Oxidation Conditions →Electrical Applications
Graphite conducts electricity, but resistivity varies by grade, forming route, density, and orientation. For electrodes or heaters, provide voltage, current, required resistivity, and dimensions.
Submit Electrical Requirements →Furnace Supports & Fixtures
When used as support posts, spacers, or structural rods, design must consider mechanical load, span, thermal expansion (CTE), and structural stability at the operating temperature.

Drawing-Based Manufacturing
- 1. Receive drawing and confirm units/revision.
- 2. Confirm material grade and forming method.
- 3. Review diameter, length, and tolerances.
- 4. Review straightness, holes, and surface finish.
- 5. Confirm operating conditions and inspection methods.
Existing Grade Replacement
Graphite grade codes are manufacturer-specific. An alternative graphite grade should be compared using verified material properties and actual application requirements rather than grade name or visual appearance alone.
A physical sample may provide geometry and wear patterns but does not automatically identify the exact graphite grade.
Request Grade ComparisonCommon Graphite Rod Problems
Visual appearance alone does not establish root cause. Let us evaluate your application.
Rod Breaks During Service
Review mechanical load, thermal shock, alignment, unsupported span, grade strength, and geometry stress points.
Rapid Oxidation
Review operating temperature, oxygen availability in the atmosphere, time of exposure, and material grade.
Incorrect Electrical Resistance
Review graphite grade, material orientation, actual dimensions, contact connections, and temperature effects.
Fine Features Chip
Review grain size, graphite grade, tool path, and feature size. Fine grain may be required for sharp edges.
